This book not only tells you everything you should do, but tells you what pitfalls to look out for. As well as suggesting how you should pitch for work it also offers some serious business sense as well. It is excellent.

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone can help? I am looking forthe owner of seo-photogrpahy.com as I was persuaded a while ago on this forum (by him) to sign up to seo-photographer.com (how to upgrade and seo my web site).

Unfortunately now when I go to the site www.seo-photographer.com it is suspended and I would (a) either like to get my money back, or (b) get access to the site asap, or the materials on that site.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Paul

HTH,

I think it's run out now but it was hosted by these people: http://www.bluehost.com/contact_us.html
You can try contacting them and see what they'll tell you . . .

http://www.webceo.com/

Great free bit of software which allows you to do keyword analysis, analyze your web pages for optimisation, track your page ranking relative to keywords and see how your efforts have affected your ranks.

With a wee bit of online reading and investment of time with this tool you will you will probably do a better job than some of the fly by nights targetting our sector.

Cheers

Johnny

I wonder if people are becoming too obsessed with SEO's. I also wonder if the people promoting SEO's are playing on people's fears/hopes.

You get to the top, but then you become obsessed with staying at the top.

At the end of the day , just how much business is gained from being on top? What about word of mouth, press advertising , Yell, etc, etc.

Another thing , when you get to the top, there will be someone who will want to knock you off, plus just becuase you sit at the top of a search , does it mean that your work/product is any better, than someone else?

I think that's a fair point. Good SEO will help to get the website seen, but that in itself doesn't bring in business, and the website is just one of many marketing tools for most people - or should be...

Without a doubt, the best way of getting business is recommendations from satisfied clients. Nothing else comes anywhere near.

I think Garry has it exactly right. It's a tool, it's not the toolbox, but as tools go it's a good 'un.

Being in the top few entires gets your site seen far more than being on say...page 5 but will only bring in work if your site is pushes all the right buttons. It's no different to being in a shop, location sets who and how many walk by, but without a good display to convert passers by into customers it doesn't help.

Exactly like EVERY other form of advertising.

It doesn't mean your work is better, but it means it gets seen. Almost all my work, that isn't from referrals, comes from internet searches. If you're not somewhere near the top for your search terms, you're invisible. I'm not very impressed with results from directories and print advertising any more, I think SEO is just about the most important thing you can do to help people find you.
