Canon 600D RAW files (CR2) & Photoshop CS3

Postby RonBaber » Fri Oct 07, 2011 12:14 pm

Anyone know the reason & solution as to why I can't view / edit my 600d RAW files using CS3? I guess the CS3 RAW "driver" dosen't recognise the file format (CR2) and if that's the case how do I get round it please?

You may have to update the raw plugin for CS3. Check online with Adobe for updates.

Thanks, I've tried that now but the latest available plug-in (6.x) doesn't work with CS3 and, from what I can see, the most recent CS3 plug-in (4.6) doesn't work with CR2 RAW format. Catch22 it seems!

Proberbly because of CS4 has been around for some time and so nolonger support CS3. Have you tried using Canon software? Alternatively convert to DNG and use that. http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/ ... rm=Windows

Tha Canon software works OK but is a bit limited, I've seen acouple of other posts mentioning DNG format so might well give it a go - though I don't pretend to undestand it!

As its free download will work out cheaper than upgrading Photoshop. Well worth a try.

Even if you are really familiar with Photoshop, you’ll always find ways to master and evolve your skills further. I’ve compiled a ton of Photoshop articles which will give you different tips on how to use and improve your Photoshop skills, as well as teach you some new techniques that you may not know.
